Syncomatic synchronises Library metadata and Develop adjustments
How people are using Syncomatic
Outsourced keywording is a major reason for using Syncomatic. Imagine you have a large number of JPEGs which someone else has keyworded and added IPTC titles, ratings and other metadata. Copying that work to your raw files would take a long time to do manually because you'd first need to find 1234.jpg and 1234.nef (or any other type of raw file) and use the Sync Metadata button, then repeat those steps for 1235.jpg, 1236.jpg and so on. Syncomatic does this automatically.
Lightroom Mobile raw+JPEG
A new workflow developed by users enables you to use Lightroom Mobile to adjust new photos while travelling, for instance. Since you can't import raw files directly into Lightroom Mobile, you can shoot raw+JPEG and import the JPEGs into Lightroom Mobile, apply star ratings and flags, even make broad adjustments. You subsequently import the raw files into Lightroom and use Syncomatic's capture time option to sync the metadata from the JPEGs to the raw files.
Unsupported raw files
Another possible application is when you have a new camera which has a raw file type which Lightroom doesn’t yet support. What you might do is shoot Raw+JPEG, import the JPEG files, and add your metadata and adjustments. Once Lightroom supports the camera, you can import the raw files and use Syncomatic to update them.
Payment and Updates
The trial version operates on up to 10 images at a time. Purchasing the plugin will give you a registration code that will remove this restriction. All future updates are free.
