PLUS for Lightroom
What is PLUS?
“PLUS has achieved what some believed was impossible. Photographers, illustrators, publishers, designers, art buyers, picture editors, museums, librarians, artist reps, stock agencies, standards bodies, attorneys, educators, archivists and application developers joined forces and cooperatively developed a universal language for image licensing. As a result, the PLUS standards support any and all image licensing models, and will benefit every professional involved in creating, distributing, using or preserving images, for many years to come.”
PLUS – the Picture Licensing Universal System – is an international standard developed by the PLUS Coalition to simplify and facilitate the communication and management of image rights.
Developed by an international collaborative effort between all industries involved in creating, distributing, using and preserving images, PLUS allows image files to carry rights information in a format that is both human and machine readable. Advertising agencies, design firms, publishers and others are adopting the PLUS standards for defining image rights and for managing rights in their digital asset management systems.
What does PLUS for Lightroom do?
PLUS for Lightroom is an independently produced plugin for professional photographers who wish to embed PLUS metadata into their images as they are exported from Lightroom.
All of the PLUS metadata fields may be assigned. The plugin allows photographers to associate image specific PLUS metadata (model releases, creator ID's etc) with their images using Lightroom's metadata panel. From the export dialog it's then possible to specify all the remaining license specific PLUS fields that you choose to apply.
PLUS for Lightroom is a post-processing plugin. and as such it is designed to sit "between" Lightroom and any export plugins that you have installed. Your PLUS metadata is embedded into your images as soon as they are exported from Lightroom, and the processed images are then passed onto the final export plugin for further handling.
The trial version is limited to exporting one image at a time. Purchasing the plugin will remove this limitation.
All minor updates are free, major updates may require an upgrade fee.
